Sparklefly Candle Customer Spotlight on Joy K

by Anne Marie Esposito, President and Founder, Sparklefly Candle Company, Inc.

This blog feature focuses on the amazing people I have been blessed to have come to know through having a small business. Through this customer spotlight series, I want to share who they are, what they face day to day, what brings them back to focus and what makes them Sparkle.

This week, I introduce you to Joy K from Peyton, Colorado. I met Joy at a Sparklefly Home Party but I got to know her so much better when she hosted a Sparklefly Candle Social Party on Facebook a few months ago and now she is on my Sparklefly Team giving feedback on new ideas to come soon. Like many of us, Joy is juggling a demanding career, a family and trying to ensure she makes some time for herself to recharge so that she can do it all with grace. She has some fantastic suggestions on how to get your Sparkle back.

Anne: Tell me a little about yourself.

Joy: I live in Peyton, Colorado with my husband and 2 amazing kids. I am a special education teacher in Colorado Springs where I teach study skills and a career education class to students with disabilities.

Anne: What does a typical day look like for you?

Joy: A typical day for me involves getting the kids up and ready for school. I drop my youngest off at preschool and then head to work. All before 7am! Depending on the day, I am either in the classroom helping my students or out in the community checking on students in work study. After work, I pick up my son and head home. Tuesday and Thursdays are Karate days so we race off as soon as my older daughter gets home from school. After Karate, its HW, dinner and bed for the kids! If I am lucky, I head to a yoga class to unwind and recenter.

Anne: What situations can make you feel overwhelmed? How do you find your Sparkle?

Joy: I can get stressed and overwhelmed trying to balance family and work. My work can be emotionally draining and stressful. Trying to manage IEP meetings, students best interests and parent contacts along with making time for myself and family and maintaining a house, laundry and food shopping can at times be difficult. When I start to get overwhelmed, I know I need to hit the gym and get to yoga. It is usually when I miss more than 2 or 3 classes that I can feel life catching up to me!

Anne: What is your favorite self care ritual?

Joy: A hike in the mountains (being in Colorado, I am surrounded by them), a hot bath or an intense yoga class.

Anne: What would you consider your favorite gifts that you are thankful for?

Joy:My family, my work and students and food on the table inside a comfortable home.

Anne: What is your favorite Sparklefly scent? Why?

Joy:Definitely Lavender Heaven. It is calming, relaxing and actually smells like lavender (so many lavender scented candles do not!!!). I have sparkle stones at home and work.

Say hello to Joy in the comments and share with us the challenges you face and how you find your Sparkle.
