by Anne Marie Esposito, President and Founder, Sparklefly Candle Company, Inc.

In my ongoing quest to bring inspiration to your day; Sparklefly Candle Company has reached out to some other amazing entrepreneurs to share their stories and products. As always, I encourage you to explore these small business owners with me and remember to shop small this holiday season and all year round.

This week I deliver to you, April May of Everything Little Miss in MA. April offers the most vibrant, adorable, lively stationery and tote bags that are fun and modern. Her maps are so unique and the color schemes are swoon worthy. Most of all, she is SO lovable! Check out her story.

Q: Tell me about Everything Little Miss and how you got started?

I started Everything Little Miss after I was laid off in 2009. I was job-hunting and started designing cards for family and friends as a way to add some fun to those long days. I received such positive feedback that I decided to open an Etsy shop. Later that year I got a job, but I loved creating stationery so much that I continued working on designs for my shop. My next step was getting a job at a local stationery company so I could learn more about the business end of things and the industry. At first it was a hobby, but Everything Little Miss quickly became a much bigger and more important part of my life.

Q: What is your favorite aspect about being a small business owner?

I love waking up knowing that my job is one that I love. We all spend so much time working, and it's important to me that I like how I spend my working hours. I get to create things that make people smile; that's really pretty great!

Q: What should a customer expect from Everything Little Miss when making a purchase?

We want our customers to open their package and get exactly what they were expecting in every way -- from vibrant colors to high quality paper and simple packaging. Everything is printed digitally at my father-in-law's print shop, ISS, which is about 20 minutes away in Shirley, MA. After your order is printed, I package everything up nicely in either a clear box or a clear sleeve so you receive the product the same way you would get it if you purchased it in a store. I like to add a little ribbon to your order if it won't damage the product (it's hard to add a ribbon to our prints with out bending them, and we can't have that!). After that, I pop it into an envelope or box with a little thank you note and send it on its way via US Mail. I'm always happy to answer questions before or after a purchase to make sure customers know just what they're getting.

Q: What are some of your best selling products?

Our maps are definitely our best selling products! We're always adding to our map collection because people regularly ask when we'll have their city or state available. The maps are colorful and educational, and I really enjoy making them!

Q: Who or what has been the biggest inspiration for you?

It feels funny to say it, but I think my childhood is really my biggest inspiration. I had so much fun as a kid! My mom's an artist and she was always encouraging my siblings and me to be creative and to make things. It was empowering. I still like a lot of the same things I did as a kid: music, books, being outside, opening presents, spending time with my friends, laughing, getting a really great hug, visiting a city, dancing around the house. As you can tell, I'm inspired by things that make me happy and I really appreciate simple joys, which I think comes through in my work.
